A Walk About With Larry

Memory Loss

Temporary memory Loss!

Memory Loss

Wow…it has been a while since I’ve traveled!!

After the ton of details I had to deal with up to the last minute, I was elated to finally being on the shuttle.  However, it’s been so long since I traveled, I am learning all over how to deal with things.  What was second nature…isn’t or wasn’t at the start of my trip!

Puzzling check in!

Checking in for international travel is normally a bit more complicated.  With covid regulations for Singapore AND Bali, it was more difficult.  I went to a special section, pulled out digital and hard copies of all my documents, staff had a council, and it was declared that I had everything.

After that, I had to wrap up my backpack to secure it for travel.

Finally, I headed to TSA recheck trying to remember what I needed.  Once through there and placing my shoulder bag on the conveyor belt for X-ray, I panicked!!!  WHERE DID I LEAVE MY BACKPACK!!!  Oh DEAR!!!  I knew I had sat it down somewhere.  Retracing my steps back to security, and then id donned on me!

DUH!!!  I checked it!! It’s OK!  Whew!  I’m learning or rather….relearning!

Once past that, my trip has flowed marvelously.  Well, (Deb…for you), the pool at Singapore Airport wasn’t open so I had to entertain myself elsewhere.  I met Vivian heading to Malaysia to help her sick mother, then Renae’ from Toronto doing something similar for his father in Jakarta…and spent hours in lovely real first person engaged conversation!  Time flew by!

Renae’ is an awesome young man, early thirties, bright and insightful, feeling his way through life and finding his balance.  Very nice!  I spent last evening doing the same with people I met in San Francisco.

After a couple months getting estimates for furnace replacement and AC installation, learning a ton, knowing now what questions are really important, and feeling what people are the most reliable to work with, I thought I had most of that done.

NO!  As fate would have it, there was a large group, most of the plane, from a SW heating and air conditioner company, taking a reward trip to Singapore.  I met a couple, Pat and Sandy from Santa Fe, and we had a lovely conversation.  Pat virtually acknowledged everything I heard, explained what he would do, and went into detail for the issues presented by a high efficiency unit placed in an older home.  OK…enough!  I’m done with HVAC conversations!

Intention I had for this trip beginning last week: “Wow! Wasn’t that an amazing trip I had to Bali next week!”

Well, it has been an amazing trip!  Everything keeps working out.  My 17 hour flight from SFO was a “full” aircraft!  However, I had two empty seats next to me and my new neck pillow worked like a charm!  I got a lot of sleep so feel refreshed for the final segment of my travel.

Now, after going to the lounge and paying for a refreshing shower, I have only a couple hours before flying off to Bali.  The driver I arranged for with Booking has already texted me welcoming me to Bali!

All that is left…flowing through Bali immigration, one more PCR test, getting my Indonesian Rupiah from the ATM, maybe a sim card for my phone, and I’m done with details for the moment.

Singapore distractions and entertainment…yes, plenty!  Great place to relax for a long layover.  Seven hours over in a flash.

Below are some photo’s from the airport here.  Stay healthy and Happy!!
