“Are you traveling alone”….the question continues. Yes, I’m am traveling alone at the moment, but probably not in the next! Last night I had dinner with a Merat from Algeria. This morning, I met a young couple visiting KL from their home in Penang, one of the MUST SEE spots on my Malaysia itinerary. I now have a map of Penang complete with recommendations for hiking, temples, food, beaches and more. Then Roger from Tazmania, Australia joined us. He’s just in from China, resting for the day and flying to Australia tonight. Sitting in the lounge to write this, I was delayed for an hour after striking up a conversation with Mary from California who is a volunteer from California teaching English in Cat Tao, Vietnam and then her friend Ann from Seattle (teaching in Dalat, Vietnam) joined us. Whew, such a busy morning! This is exactly why I like staying in hostels.
I asked the owner about suggestions for a good massage and an acupuncturist. He pulled out a map and showed me where to find a Chinese doctor good with acupuncture and told me to be very careful about the massage’s I see on the street. He recommended one good place near the Swiss Hotel. Then he asked me if I liked to SWIM! There is an olympic swimming pool just down the road from here! After 10 minutes of him showing me places on the ma (national mosque, lake gardens district, Saturday Night Market near Little India, etc.), he looked out the window and told me the weather was good today for this. Then he reached into a bag and handed me a “disposable rain coat” just in case.
Now, I’m off to explore, get some exercise and such. Cheers!
I am SO excited for you! And so glad you have this set up so I can get my Larry fix whenever I need it! I love that you are moved to write when you travel. Hmmm what could that mean?
