Your choice....choose wisely!
After my birthday, I made this short video. What inspired me was the comments I received about having a Happy Birthday…”under these conditions”.
What struck me is this: I do my best to live well, be happy, choose to be peaceful, like being present and aware and appreciate the little things in my life that enrich me! And feeling that way is not dependent on any “conditions”.
Conditional living is much more common. It’s like living as a “yo-yo”: up or down depending on the conditions around you. Conditions literally define or cause the experience most people feel.
In my world, on “Planet Larry”, things don’t work that way. Yes, I’ve been aware of and working on this for years. However, I’ve never quit! Day by day, I’m better at it. Some days, I flop completely!
Other days, a gentle glow of feeling happy permeates my day. Why? Because I choose it! Simple really!
One morning, I woke with my lower back hurting. In the past, that was a prelude to things getting worse. Feeling the stiffness, my mind went to the concern and I started thinking about that.
I walked outside my room to sit on the veranda looking at the trees growing above the shallow stream flowing there. Breakfast was about to be delivered at the Blu Mango where I was staying.
Suddenly, it dawned on me, “I AM IN BALI”!!! And just as suddenly, I decided that I was doing GREAT! Focus is everything! The pain subsided and my thought went to other things I was appreciating in my world!!
Choose wisely!
PS…I selected the photo for this post from an image in Guanajuato. These kids were hanging out together in the shade while their mother was hoping to sell something so she could make some money. No mobile phone, no distractions, just a simple act of being together!
