I arrived yesterday back in Trat to Pop Guest House and a street in a flurry of activity. From the main road on one side of Pop’s to another main road five or so blocks the other direction, the street was closed and booths were setting up. It was the first night of a three day festival. Yay!
Walking grazing, walking some more, grazing some more, I took photo’s and ate until I couldn’t eat anymore. Pork on a stick, deep fried chicken, different types of coconut ice cream, fruit with ice cream, noodles, rice squid and bugs, the options were abundant! Tonight, I’ll go back for another experience of it!
Notice the girls in traditional dress performing a dance. None of the girls is older than 12 and they were pretty amazing!
This morning, I decided NOT to travel today. That decision was immediately followed by a deep sense of ease! I had a lingering breakfast with extra coffee, found a hotel on Koh Samet, learned where to pick up the mini-van tomorrow morning and went for a nice walk about town. Part of my journey was looking for used books. When that failed, I did get a very good recommendation for massage!
I asked here and they told me there were three shops on the street behind. Normally, I ask about three people until I get some consensus. The second person I asked, a French man who lives here and has books at his guest house, recommended I go to the “blind massage”. Hmmm! That certainly might take out the element of interruption for text messages!
They weren’t far away but booked so I made an appointment. I’m just back from that wonderful session. It was 90 minutes for $5.00. Really great session and she attacked all the points in my legs tight and stiff from my earlier trekking.
Relaxed, I’m waiting the beginning of the festival so I can have an appetizer of coconut ice cream with strawberries!
The festival sounds awesome!
