A Walk About With Larry

Test walk!

Nice challenging test today!  In Mexico City, my let hurt so much I had to stop every ten minutes or so and sit or stretch.  After the massage work today, I decided to test it again.  After all, I am here today in Tepoztlan and this weekend, crowds descend on the city and the trial to the “Pyramide”.  After a really good coffee, I set off!

And Up!  The trail:  roughly 1,700 feet (540 meters) elevation gain in 1.5 miles (2.5 K).   Pocito a pocito, despacio!  Little by little, slowly.  I found my body dropping right into the old regular hiking rhythm.

From here in the village.  If you look up carefully, you can barely see it.

Now you see it!

Slow and steady, the hiking felt really good.  The pain in my leg was only noticeable on the descent.  And it wasn’t significant.  What a lovely view at the top!

Zoom to the Zocolo and the church.  My hostel is just to the left.

Here are a few photo’s of the trail.

The trail begins and ends on the mail road from the Zocolo.

Near the end of the trail, a famous ice cream spot.  One huge store dedicated to ice cream.  It’s reported that they might have as many as 200 different flavors!

And a panoramic view of the valley.

Next adventure, Cuernavaca!  It’s so close and the name has a lovely ring to it!  Buses run from here about every 15 minutes for 26 pesos.  So I’m off on an adventure to do a bit of exploring tomorrow!

Ciao!

  1. Wow, gorgeous! Trees are amazing and distinct. That looks like a lot of walking, climbing, descending. I’m glad you got some good bodywork to help make it possible to experience this!
