Practicing my Bali Refreshing Travel Strategy

Bye Ubud and Bali!

Yesterday, I left Ubud and arrived in Sanur.  At some point in my travel experiences, I realized the benefit of finding a spot to stop, sit, relax, and recharge before flying home.  It clearly has relieved some of the travel stress involved in changing time zones, the 14-hour time difference, enduring long flights, and the culture shock of returning to the US.  I love my time with my Bali family.  And I love coming here for that recharge experience before the journey home.

I came to Sanur on my first trip to Bali 15 years or more ago.  I didn’t like it much!  I’m not sure why but it didn’t resonate with me.
Toward the end of Covid, I was able to travel to Bali but with a ton of restrictions.  It proved to be an enormously long trip.  I couldn’t leave the airport or change flights when I had 9 or more hours waiting in Singapore.  I had to book everything in ONE ticket and could not vary.  I remember the restrictions changing almost daily during my final days before departure.
In Bali, I needed a government-approved certified hotel.  Even that process was unclear!
I found a hotel in Sanur that was surprisingly affordable, everything was after a year or two with no guests.  The hotel sent me a copy of their certificate of approval.  I decided, rather than go directly to Ubud, to relax on the beach for a while.  The jet lag was challenging but I found myself in an awesome spot to relax, rest up and enjoy myself!
At the end of that trip, I came back to rest up before reversing the process.  I had an early flight to Singapore then sat in the airport overnight waiting for my departure the next morning.  It added a dozen hours or so to my journey.  Leaving rested made a big difference and made the long trip more tolerable!

Pool, Inna Sindhu, Bali

This is the photo of the pool at Inna Sindhu.  I had an option of swimming in the ocean or swimming in the pool.  Excellent food was near at hand.  I had a good massage, rode a bicycle for transportation and walked along the beach for exercise.  Perfect!

Early landing, forced relaxation.

Traffic was not bad this time and the trip was faster than expected arriving at 12;45.   However, that meant that my room was not available yet.  there was a possibility it wouldn’t be until 3:00.  The good news:  this is very close to Massimo’s Italian restaurant with awesome gelato!  I walked over there to have lunch and some gelato for desert!  Not a bad way to wait!
Black forest and Mixed berry cheesecake gelato in case you were curious!

Early morning walk!

I was up at 5:30 am and walked to the beach to watch the sunrise.  My plan today:  enjoy!  I took photo’s.  Walked back for breakfast at my hotel.  Walked back during high tide for a swim.  Stopped at the bakery on the way back.  Had a swim at the hotel.  Took a Grab bike to the Bakery Restaurant for lunch.  Had a massage.  And in between those things, I’ve slowly been organizing my backpack.  Soon, I will have it tightly and carefully packed for the journey home!
My massage and the general flow of the day have been great!  This evening, I’m going back to Massimo’s for my favorite meal.  Remembering it is Saturday night here, I made a reservation.  Tomorrow morning, I’ll have breakfast and then head for the airport and my flight to Singapore.
Below are a few photo’s from this morning.
