A Walk About With Larry

Last Day in Ubud…off to Padang Bali tomorrow…dining and relaxing!

I stopped by to have Nyoman work on me last night.  My back was still a bit sore.  He helped a lot and I realized the challenge right now is really tight muscles.  So I’m starting each day with more extensive and enjoyable stretching.  Much better now.

After breakfast here this morning, banana pancake in photo below, I went off on a couple errands.  As I picked up shampoo at Angelo’s, I saw Ketut next door in her massage business, Bali Santi.  She came out and thanked me for sending people to her!  Suksans (Balinese for thank you.)  I had a coffee with Iwan and then headed off into my day.

They asked me not to park in front of the building but to the side.  I misunderstood that a truck was coming to help them with their move.  A vehicle from a local village was coming to deliver supplies for one of the evacuation camps.  Mattress, children toys, diapers, pens and paper, soft toys for children, etc.  And a collection box is inside the shop, a metal box Iwan has had since childhood where he stored his toys when he was young.  People helping people!

Then I went for lunch after my noon healing meditation for Mt. Agung.

Mama’s was open but she wasn’t there.  The ladies working there remembered me.  I ordered Lumpia which is a Balinese fried spring roll…and a favorite dish for me here.  I had chicken and shrimp mixed.  They served it with sweet and sour sauce.  When I asked for peanut sauce, she apologized and asked if I wanted to wait?  Yes I did indeed.  And it was maybe a whole four minutes before she served me up a fresh batch of peanut sauce to accompany my lumpia and coconut lassie!  Yum!

When I finished, I decided to go to Kakiang Bakery.  There is one close to Perama Bus on the South end of town.  With a motor bike, the other is accessible, larger and a very peaceful and cool place to sit and relax.  I wouldn’t recommend a coffee though?  They have a ton of drink options beside coffee so those might be OK.  Last time there, I ordered an Americano because it is really hard to screw those up!  It was so screwed up, I couldn’t drink it!

This spot is where the debate began about the cake!  Touch choices as you’ll see from menu photo!  I listened to their recommendation and tried the chocolate mousse cake.  It was really good and reminded me I am not a huge fan of chocolate mousse cake.  It also reminded me that they bake differently here.  Little sugar, lots of chocolate, rich creamy flavors, really delicious product!  Yum!

Now, I’m off shortly to meet a friend from the US and her travel mates at Wild Ginger for dinner.  Then, I’m going with new friends from Barcelona to see Nyoman, their first healing session with him.  Mama at Sandat Bali offered to keep my extra stuff so I don’t have to cart it all off with me to Padang Bali.  When I stopped by, I saw the friends I met the other night from Sweden and Peru…great people!  And mama thanked me for bringing people for papa to help!

Loved the cover on this menu!!!
