A Walk About With Larry

Food Van San Cristobal de las Casas

Getting in the travel Groove, San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas!

This is my third full day of travel.  I’m getting into a rhythm now.  While traveling, I posted on facebook about my travel experience.  For those of you who aren’t on facebook, I will repost some of that here later.  But first, Chiapas.

This is my third visit here, the first being 30 years ago.  Yes, it has changed markedly!  Yes, it’s still lovely.  Yes, the people are still very friendly!!

I’ve met people from all over the world already and have invitations to visit people in India and other places.  I walked four hours or more yesterday exploring with my camera.

My first two days were mostly strolling, grazing, sampling coffee, grazing some more and spending time in the hammock.  I finished my first book yesterday so was ready to walk and take some photo’s.

Highlight so far…people!  Lots of interesting people already!  Love authentic and connected conversation which is in abundance!  Met a woman from Ethiopia two days ago.  This morning, I was talking with a woman who just arrived last evening.  She is a performer/entertainer who travels around the world entertaining.  She started street work in Sydney.  And her speciality:  escape artist!

People cycle through, some leave and head off on their journey’s.  New friends arrive and new journeys begin.  Awesome!

In two days, I leave for Guatemala.  I had a tiny idea of how to make that work when I arrived but knowledge that it would work.  I want to go all the way to Chichicastenango and be there for the setup of the weekend market.  However, the bus takes too long.  For a while it looked like the only way to do that was change days of travel and miss what I wanted to see.  Then Pedro (my instructor from Centro Maya Xela) told me there are buses from Los Encuentros regularly to Chichi.

And then, I discovered that the shuttle also goes on to Panajachel meaning they drive right through Los Encuentros!  Perfect!  That’s the way things roll with my travels!

From my walk yesterday, here are a few photo’s.  Enjoy!

Ciao for now!
