Final days of Peru and Colombia travel Adventure!
Early morning Travel….a mystery!
Yes! There was supposed to be a Chiva waiting for me! However, it rained pretty hard all night long. The Chiva’s are open sided. I didn’t know whether they would run or not. I wake up early and headed over a continuous walk down a very steep pill with my packs and waited.
If you have been following along, you know that even the most confident travel advice may not be accurate.
When I arrived, Chiva’s weren’t where they were supposed to be, and I only saw one. I saw a number of buses. I talked to a man near the end of the he pointed to the spot and told me it would be there at 6:00! I sat and waited.
chiva travel Experience
Shortly before six, it arrived! He backed in and I went and talked to the driver. He told me to get on, took my backpack and put it in storage in the back and then 10 minutes we took off through a light drizzle heading toward Jerico. What a lovely ride adventure! I took a little less than three hours. And it was very intimately interacting with nature. We had pavement for about 10 minutes. After that, it was a very small, narrow, single lane country Road. Occasionally we would meet a truck. One or the other would have to back up and find a space so they could pass each other. Whenever a motorbike approached, our driver pulled the side and stopped so they could get by safely. No room! Great Driver! Simply amazing views and experience for me!

I’m really enjoying Jerico, Colombia!
I’m staying in an awesome place for three nights. Staff has been extremely friendly, the room is large and comfy, and the breakfast this morning was amazing. Plus some views off the back deck are just amazing!OK
It’s hilly and steep but easily walkable! It’s really compact and friendly little town. I love going to the plaza. People sit in the plaza, around the plaza and chat and talk and it’s just such a lovely place! I’m really happy. I have three days here to rest, re-organizing my pack, just prepare for going home before I head to Medellin.
Below are some views from here.
A couple videos, reflection and packing
Writing a blog with my iPad this way it’s been a real challenge. There are multiple issues. They just disappear. Things opera completely different differently than my MacBook Pro.
This morning, I made a couple of videos which is much easier than trying to write.
One of these is summarizing my travel packing review. And the other is just a general reflection on the last 5+ weeks of travel.
This may be my last post before I head home. My plan before my next trip is to figure out a better strategy to be able to write not have things be too bulky. I do miss writing! Very happy to have you travel along with me! This has been another amazing adventure for me …. amazing! Feel very blessed!
Ciao!
