A quick post before heading to bed. I’m all packed and leave early tomorrow for the airport. Friday morning traffic can be rough here so I’m leaving extra early. It’s a 13 hour travel day getting from here to Bangkok, going through customs and immigration, re-entering the airport, re-checking my bag and getting on the next flight to Chiang Mai.
Today has been a lovely final day in Ubud. Saw a friend off this morning for Thailand. Met a friend for coffee. Discovered that not only had Iwan roasted the Papua coffee yesterday for me to try today, he was saving some beans to roast with me. When I ordered a cappuccino, he asked me, his “coffee guru”, to use the machine and make my own. What a machine! First attempt really expanded the milk quickly. Second attempt, making coffee for my friend Mary, was a bit too light. However, she commented that she always uses sugar to sweeten here coffee but this didn’t need any.
Meeting friends, final shopping, saying good bye to friends, reading and relaxing by the pool, final evening dinner with my friend Lissu, and then to Sopa because Ketut wanted to give me something and I ran into my new friend Sari once again! What a lovely day! Now, sadly, I’m leaving Ubud. There is a special feel to this place even with all the development! Beyond the sadness, I’m excited to be on an adventure once again! Tomorrow begins a new phase. So before I turn in, here are a few photo’s from today.
Hey Larry!
Thanks for the tales of your day. Sounds sooooo nice. Happy travels to your next stop!
Smart to be going right to Chaing Mai. Have fun making new memories.
Long travel day yesterday! Early departure in Bali..because ceremony often slows traffic! Waiting, airport security many times, confusion about luggage, had to go through immigration and customs in DMK/Bangkok, leave airport, re-enter, back through security, etc. Ahhhhh….travel! Wasn’t sure I’d ever travel again with all the muck and exhaustion of the past years of drama, parental care, energy holding, etc.
Love the pictures! you lookrelaaaxed. My favorite is the candor of the wifi notice. ha
Thanks for coming Guru…
and talk with coffee language…
