Learning to travel!  My first visit to Mexico was the Baja of California in the mid-1980s.  It was a bit rough going then but, I fell in love with the people!  My first major backpacking trip took place several later.  With a bulky and overloaded backpack, too much clothing, and much of it not good for travel, frightened and unsure, I got on a plane to Cancun and 2 1/2 months of travel.  I did NOT know what I was doing.  BUT…I was certain that if I didn’t start, I would never learn.  And boy have I!

Going slow.  Experience authentic communities.  Be present.  Savor. No long overnight bus rides this time.   Seeing new places.  Visiting old friends.  Meeting new friends.  And revisiting some favorite spots from last time.   First, I’ll explore some new areas North of Mexico City. Not a city boy!

UPDATE…now, with actual photo’s rather than blank spaces.  Really slow wifi last night kept disconnecting! The photo above is from a weeknight when the street is actually really quiet!  Interesting, yes!  Pricey, yes!  Not my favorite place to be. I don’t much like big cities, preferring the more intimate connections of smaller villages.  Mexico City
