A Walk About With Larry

Bali Arrival

News arrived here today of the tornado’s and destruction in Southern Indiana, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee where friends live. I hope they are alright as well as any friends and family you may have there!

Sitting here writing this, and realizing that I’m really in Bali, this is quite a surreal experience. I started thinking of this last summer, anticipating it would be really good to come back here, see the healers and get myself checked out! And now I’m here in my second floor room having just watched the sun set over Ubud, all the light disappear and witnessing it “dark” outside.

After two travel days and arriving close to 10:00 pm last night, I was a bit weary this morning. I think it was also a bit of a shocker to actually be here where the energy is significantly different than other places i’ve visited so far. Bangkok and Singapore are both lovely, huge cities, loads of noise constantly bounces about, people everywhere and every walk is amidst some sort of skyscraper.

Here even with traffic on the street, it is quiet! There’s a stillness here and a slower rhythm to life. Every few steps, a man calls out “Taxi Taxi” while signaling turning a steering wheel with their hands, hopeful for an opportunity to make some money. They didn’t hear or care about the man only 20 meters behind calling out the same thing. I look at them, shake my hand no and smile at them. They beam a smile and go back to talking with their friends.

And YES, for those of you wondering, I am indeed surrounded by green again!

This morning, after having breakfast delivered to my veranda, I walked down to take laundry out. Dewa was talking with a customer so I stopped to visit on the way back. I sat out there talking with him, his brother and his father for several hours. Dewa got on his motorbike, drove to a local market and bought me some Lumpia for lunch, a Balinese version of fried spring roll. It’s one of my favorite snacks here. He brought enough for two meals.

They told me their father had been sick, required two surgeries and after the second, the doctor simply held his hands up saying there was nothing more he could do. He’s been doing this kind of surgery since 1974 and never seen anything like this before. They called a Holy Man to help. He had only a few minutes in ICU where they gave him a 10% chance of survival. The problem disappeared, is healing and he’s here now healthy and happy.

The new construction on the top of the roof line and at the family temple is from a ceremony they just completed. It’s a ceremony they do every 25 years or when they can afford it because it costs thousands of US dollars to do, the ceremony for “Harmony”. Imagine that, I just settled into a place that was blessed, prayed over, hundreds of guests and friends came to work with the priest (several of them) with the intent of sending any negative energy away and creating a space of harmony!!!

Feeling weary, I didn’t make any plans for the day other than to simply listen moment to moment. After a couple hours in my room relaxing and reading, I remembered that Dewa asked me if I could pay them something today so they had money for their workers? I went to the ATM and withdrew several million rupiah. It feels very cool to be able to say I withdrew several million which is close to $300 US.

I paid for eight nights here which took $1.8 million Rp. They are giving me a discount yet the room has steadily increased in price from the 125,000 I initially paid. The money goes to a great family so I’m OK with that.

Walking back from the ATM, I had a feeling about going to visit Nyoman. He’s the reflexologist healer who worked on me last time leaving bruises and welts in his painfully exquisite healing work! Painful…absolutely and enough so, remembering it caused me pause in considering going. Exquisite…I felt significantly different after only one session with him last year.

I walked into his courtyard, he was there and recognized me. Yes, he remembered the big man from last year! I visited with two of his guests while he prepared the room and then laid down. Within a short time, the painful time kicked in as he found excruciatingly painful spots in my feet explaining what they were related to. Once finished with my right foot and leg, he moved to the left. It was more painful!

Within a few minutes, a rush of energy ran up the front of my body and he commented knowing I can feel energy. My head cleared, tightness in my neck vanished, my shoulders relaxed and my entire body took on a feeling of calm and peacefulness. Amazing how quickly energy shifts and yes, this would be the exquisite part of the work. Once again, the spots he found in my left foot related to “thinking too much”. Once again, I was pummeled, poked, prodded, tearful, bruised and oh so happy!

I stayed while he worked on his next patient and he explained what he was doing and had me feel the energy difference from the start of his work until he finished. Cold feet and legs and hands were suddenly warm. The finishing touch was the red heat lamp adding extra outside energy to help this patient.

He affirmed that there is nothing physically wrong with me, just energy stuck and not moving. He showed me a standing energy exercise to do to remember. The man he was working on was afraid to come to him until seeing several doctors who couldn’t help him. He came to Nyoman and the problem he had went away. Lots of stories like that surround Nyoman’s work.

He has rooms for rent there which are $100,000 a night meaning my 8 nights here would stretch to 18 nights there for the same price. It’s something to consider as they live off a side street in a very quiet neighborhood!

Laundry is done, I’m wrapping up my day and may rent a motor bike to go in search of the “Holy Knife” tomorrow!

Ciao….
