A Walk About With Larry

Lovely Rice Field view!

Travel from Kuala Lumpur to Bali. Amazing Being here again!

Travel adventure getting to Bali!

It seemed like a pretty easy travel day!  I looked forward to seeing the healers, tuning up my body and relaxing.

However, travel wasn’t what I expected.  My hope:  Express transport to the airport.  Easy!  Check bag.  Head to the gate.  Zoom, zoom and I’m there!

Not so fast!  I woke very early.  And I mean, I was AWAKE.  Packed the night before, I had little to do so I showered and left early.  A short walk brought me to the LRT station. A short ride brought me to KL Sentral where the express train was.  A wait of about 10 minutes, and I was off.

I wore my knee brace for support carrying my backpack and computer bag.  Nice visit with a man going to Borneo and I got off at the right airport (first time I did this, I didn’t!)

Now, the tricky part!  Up the escalator.  Through the shops.  Up another people moving track and I was told to go straight ahead.  It seemed weird I hadn’t seen a check in counter anywhere yet?

My pack was heavy now.  I walked slowly happy I had my brace along.  It was a huge walk that eventually ended in my departure terminal.  I’ll tell you about that in the short videos to follow.

Checked in.  Seated.  Off on time.  And moving smoothly.  Once we approached Bali, we were in a holding pattern for at least 20 or 25 minutes.  Then holding on the runway while they got a gate ready.

Eventually, I made it to Bali through afternoon traffic jam (yes, they do have them here) after 4:00.  I settled into my room and went across the road to see Mama and Papa…and to have a session with Papa!

I’m very happy to be here again.  Time is flying by and I’m savoring each moment!

Travel summary!

I’ve not done this before so I’m experimenting.  I put slides together this morning and narrated them…briefly.  It moves quickly. Not to worrk, I’ll put up a gallery of these images if you want to look closer!

Another experiment...travel overview

It’s intersting traveling without my big camera.  I’m thinking less about what photo to take, more about being present in the experience. But moments pop up where I realize, “hey, this would be a great video moment”.  I’m using new technology with my phone.  Not having a lot of experience with it,  I’m learning as I go along!

This morning, a relaxing day, I decided to make a video summarizing my expeirences this week.  Once I got the microphone working, it transformed from a silent movie into a “talkie”.  Some things, I’m not able to do yet?  Oh well, I’m enjoying myself and adapting as I go along.

Lunch today in the rice fields

Last time I was here, I walked up to Sweet Orange Warung (cafe).  It was a LONG walk.  This time, favoring caution and taking care of my knee, I got a Grab to take me up to the final walk in.  It was gorgeous!  And that’s where my camera came out to record some video.  I made several short recordings and will post those below.

This was once an isolate warung, along  and quiet among the rice fields.  Since that day, a LOT of development has taken place.  Still, this is an awesome place.  And today, I discovered they have a reading nook hub which I may have to go back up and sample!

Through the rice fields.

On the way to the village

Out of peace and quiet and into local business buzz.  It’s low season so it’s not too crazy walking through the markets.  This is the descent back into Ubud.  And it’s quite a sensory overload experience for me if I don’t manage my attention!

Open heart and friendly!

Once again, I’m impressed by the friendly, warm and engaging way people connect here.  The second time I want back to Sugriwa Warung, people came to my table to say hello!  Tomorrow morning, I go to Seniman coffee for a class on espresso preparation.  I asked questions about it and the woman at the register took my name for a list.  A day or two later, I was sitting outside a little more remote.  She came over, said hello, and said she would see me Saturday at the class.

It’s so refreshing being in this environment!

Relaxing day, travel day

I’m here for a few more days.  Tuesday, I head over to Candidasa for a few days near the beach for some ocean therapy!  Click here if you are interested in learning more:

Candidasa

And a special place I found nust off the beach.  Not my normal lodging but, for three special nights before flying back to Colorado, it felt pretty essential!  Have a look with the link below.

Papa...

“Grand”-Papa with Made.  Now, the little guy has really grown up!  He and his sister are old enough to remember me now.

It for now!

Weeks have flown by.  I’m enjoying every moment.  I’ve really enjoyed taking care of myself with the acupuncture, massage, healing sessions with Wayan, magical treatment from Papa, and all the real, vital, authentic connections I have had here.

That’s it for now.  I’ll send some photos when I get to the beach.  And maybe some espresso shots from tomorrow!!??
