Slow moving, lots of sitting evening! Foot a bit sore today. Had plans, dropped those, adjusted! Needed to get to the bank for some money. First time I’ve ever experienced this!! ATM ate my card, no way to recover it, had to order a new one. Minimum, with customs, of two weeks to get a new one!! I’ll be where….then?? So I’m having it sent to Oaxaca! Fortunately, I’ve seen this happen to others so I’ve got two backup options! The backup card worked! So, I have money for dinner!
Adjusting and serendipidity!
After calling my bank and ordering a new card, I went to get some money. I had been looking for a chiropractor here but none felt right. I contacted a couple massage places but those didn’t flow. So, not to force it, I let it go!
I’d read that Torta’s Don Beto were so good, it was worth a trip to Mexico! It is right around the corner from my hostal or so I thought. Now, he has retired and converted the building to a business for his daughters. I met him in the reception area of their new MASSAGE business. Yes, things are always working out for me! I had a focused massage from Christina what was wonderful! She worked on the foot and the muscles that had tightened up in the leg with very sure hands! Perfect!
So now my new card is on its way, my foot is better, I’ll have to find another sandwich/torta shop, have sufficient money for the time being and am thoroughly enjoying my trip!
Adjustments!
I had plans to go to the hacienda today. However, the ATM event took time and then I learned the massage place is closed tomorrow. So I adjusted. I found a wonderful tiny cafe for breakfast at 1:00 in the afternoon, excellent food on the street in front of the University. Lunch was $50 pesos…$2.50 US. And now, after resting from the massage work, I’m preparing to gently walk to the funicular and climb up the hill side to watch the sunset and colors change!
Each day, I have ideas for activities and plans tomorrow begin to form in my mind. However, that’s NOW, not then. Each morning, I wake and get a feel for “what feels right now”? That’s how my days unfold. I know I won’t see everything so don’t try! When I move to another part of Oaxaca for my final two nights, I’ll be closer to other options to explore so will do that!
I love that flowing nature of travel, or at least, the way I travel. For example, I had two armed guards with vests on and pump shotguns come to help me at the ATM! The language on this machine was different than I’d seen before. My withdrawal was declined! And I was sure I had put everything in correctly! One guard looked over my shoulder and pointed to options helping me select.
Turns out, I am so accustomed to using the same card for all my travel, I selected that account. Yes, the one I had just called to have the card cancelled and the account put on hold until I have my new card!
Once we realized that, everything flowed smoothly. Here I was at the ATM joking with armed security guards. What an experience! And the collection of those moments make my travels so marvelous!!
Evening photo play
I’m playing with new settings on my camera. One goal of this trip is to learn more to take better photo’s and night time video. My night videos have been horrible! I’m now getting a clue why!
Yesterday, I recorded the groups marching through Oaxaca. The music was REALLY LOUD! On the one video that came out, the music is really soft in the background. I’m wondering if my iPhone has a limit setting that it adjusted? Those are things I’m learning.
Below…photo’s of my experimenting last night!

Lovely and full of life! Glad you found a good massage and ATM help. If you need funds, I know where Kathy’s purse is. 😘
